Amar Latif is a blind TV presenter, international motivational speaker, entrepreneur and world traveller. He became known to millions through BBC 2 reality series, Beyond Boundaries, where he endured a 220-mile jungle expedition across Central America. Amar had to ford swollen rivers, cut through dense jungle, cross waterfalls, climb a 5,000ft active volcano and navigate the second largest lake in Latin America. In 2015, Amar led Channel 4 TV presenters Adam Hills and The Last Leg team on a 3,000 mile journey through Australia's Outback and he's presented several Channel 4 shows. He's also directed documentary films, including work for Channel 4's Sightseeing Blind, which was featured at the British Film Institute. And he was the presenter of York-based Air TV’s River Walks: A Nidderdale Adventure, winner of the 2019 Yorkshire Centre award for best single documentary.
Leeds Trinity’s Media and Journalism week takes place on 4 to 7 November. The event gives students the opportunity to hear from industry experts representing the UK's leading broadcasters, newspapers, magazines and digital media experts. Over a week of talks, workshops, Q&A sessions and networking, these experts provide a unique insight into what it's like to work in today's Journalism and Media industries. While the majority of attendees will be studying Journalism and Media at Leeds Trinity and other universities, the week is open to anyone with an interest in a career in Journalism or Media, including those already working in the industry and students from local schools and colleges.
