Further Information

Champion for Quality in Broadcasting

Jocelyn Hay CBEJocelyn Hay CBE is retiring at the age of 80 from chairing the organisation she created in 1983 to protect British public service broadcasting. This remarkable woman will remain its President and utilise her enormous range of contacts at the highest levels of broadcasting, regulation and politics.

Jocelyn was a freelance writer/broadcaster and photographer before founding Voice of the Listener in 1983 to successfuly fight off a threat that BBC Radio 4 might become an all-news and current affairs network. She also spent five years as Head of the Press and PR Department for the Girl Guides Association while her children were Brownies. Realising during the Peacock Inquiry in 1985 that there were important issues to be addressed in the television industry too, the organisation morphed into the Voice of the Listener and Viewer in 1991. She created a vocal and repected pressure group and was recognised for her efforts with the CBE in 2007 for her exceptional contribution to Public Service Broadcasting. Recently, Jocelyn has been very concerned to influence the result of the Ofcom review of public service broadcasting which could affect all she has fought for in the last 25 years.
