I AM series two - SERIES SYNOPSIS

I Am is a female-led drama anthology series from BAFTA-winning writer-director Dominic Savage and produced by Emmy winning Me+You Productions for Channel 4, starring three of Britain’s leading actors.

Each 3x60” episode is named after its lead character and stars one of a trio of Britain’s leading acting talent; BAFTA-winning Suranne Jones (Dr. Foster, Gentleman Jack) takes the lead role in I Am Victoria; BAFTA-winning Letitia Wright (Black Panther, Small Axe) stars in I Am Danielle; and Oscar-nominated Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread, Mum) stars in I Am Maria. The series cast also includes Ashley Walters (Top Boy), Alice Feetham (Save Me) CJ Beckford (Sitting in Limbo), Sophia Brown (Giri/Haji), Michael Gould (Darkest Hour) and Gershwyn Eustache Jnr (Small Axe, I May Destroy You).

Created, written and directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Dominic Savage (The Escape), the stories for each film have been developed in a creative partnership with the leading actors, with improvised dialogue and themes including relationships, mental health, and empowerment. The trilogy explores the experience of three women in moments that are emotionally raw, thought-provoking and personal.

I Am became Channel 4’s most successful new 10pm drama in six years when it debuted in August 2019, with BAFTA-winning Vicky McClure starring in I Am Nicola; Oscar nominated and BAFTA-winning Samantha Morton starring in I Am Kirsty; and Gemma Chan starring in I Am Hannah.

As well as its nomination at last year’s BAFTA Television Awards (Leading Actress for Samantha Morton in I Am Kirsty), I Am was nominated for the Best Original Programme and Best Single Drama at the Broadcast Awards; for Best TV Movie at the C21 International Drama Awards; as Best New Drama in the TV Choice Awards; and for Photography (Drama & Comedy) at the RTS Craft Awards. Samantha Morton also won the WFTV Performance Award for her performance in I Am Kirsty.

I Am is produced by Me+You Productions. Executive Producers are Richard Yee and Dominic Savage, with Caroline Hollick and Gemma Boswell from Channel 4 overseeing. The series is produced by Me+You co-founder Krishnendu Majumdar. The series was co-funded by Sky Studios, NBCU International will handle global distribution.
