On Wednesday the 28th of November, the Royal Television Society are hosting an evening at the BBC in Bristol about how to be a professional Wildlife Camera Operator. Chaired by the BBC Natural History Unit’s Creative Director, Mike Gunton, the evening will see some of the biggest personalities and the best Camera Operators in the world talk about their experiences in the industry, their biggest adventures and their advice to people who are looking to make it in the world of wildlife filming. This will be a one off chance to hear some of the best stories in natural history filmmaking and hear from legends in the industry. The mediated conversations with the camera operators will later be opened to the floor for questions.
We have also invited young people who have made positive steps in their aims to become camera ops - a camera assistant and a young camera operator. They will be talking about the modern challenges facing people looking to break into the industry today.
We will only be able to accommodate a limited number of people for this event so please sign up early via the Eventbrite website. Every ticket will entitle you to a free drink at the bar. The audience and the guest speakers will head to the BBC bar after the event at 20:30.
To get a ticket you must be a registered RTS Futures member, then register on the Eventbrite website so we have your information on the night. There will also be a £3.50 fee to pay on the door.
This event isn’t just for people who are interested in becoming Wildlife camera op’s, but is also for anyone who is interested in the Wildlife Filmmaking field and factual content production at large as well.
Please do come along.
