The BBC's youth multi-plaform brand, BBC Switch, launched in October 2007 to specifically serve 12-17 year olds through a distinctive and innovative mix of online, television and radio programming. In this session Head of BBC Switch, Geoffrey Goodwin, and the team of creatives behind BBC Switch will talk about just some of the brand's recent projects, which encompass drama, comedy, entertainment and current affairs.

Event Summary

The BBC's youth multi-plaform brand, BBC Switch, launched in October 2007 to specifically serve 12-17 year olds through a distinctive and innovative mix of online, television and radio programming. In this session Head of BBC Switch, Geoffrey Goodwin, and the team of creatives behind BBC Switch will talk about just some of the brand's recent projects, which encompass drama, comedy, entertainment and current affairs.

Geoff and his team will discuss their journey so far, from setting up a live webcast in their basement to creating a drama for mobile phones, crowd sourcing a charity single on youtube and collaborating on the new E20 site. Included in this session are 'The Cut', BBC Switch's multi-platform soap which launched in autumn 2009 and features fast-paced stoylines starring a cast of rising young talent; current affairs strand 'Revealed' - the only BBC News programme just for teenagers and 'The 5:19 Show' - a daily webcast which transmits live from the BBC Switch building basement and also now transmits weekly on BBC Two and is launching on BBC Radio 1 from March. .
