Sparked by the recent CES (Consumer Electronics Show), RTS London brings you an overview of how consumer technology is changing the way television works. Screens are getting bigger, smarter, even bendy, and yet viewers still watch TV on phones and tablets, or look at something else on phones and tablets.
We used to have Plain Old Telephones, but now they are Smart. Consumers are pulling the TV industry into new ways of delivering what we might call Plain Old Television. In fact some people don’t even own a television anymore. And in response to this, production companies are creating new ways of making television programmes, with add on apps, games and social media that are no longer a hurried afterthought.
This session revues some of the new developments at CES, with a panel of experts on mobile advances, consumer research and TV production to discuss consumer technology and viewer behaviour, and the resulting new styles of programming and interactive play-alongs that the next generation of viewers will demand.
