Fierce Women in Media showcases women leading the way in the world of broadcasting to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Working your way through the ranks to get your dream job takes guts. BBC Birmingham has launched Fierce Women in Media - an event designed to build on your bravery and work towards getting your own dream job in the industry. Tying in with International Women’s Day in March, the idea behind the event is not only to celebrate strong, creative women working in the media but also to inspire more young people – like you! – to pursue careers in the media industry.

“But isn’t this event just for women?!” – Absolutely not. This event is aimed at young people of all genders and backgrounds who are interested in pursuing a career in the media industry. It just happens to be on this occasion that we are championing women who have worked their way up to their dream job.

Fierce Women in Media takes place at the Glee Club in Birmingham on Tuesday 5th March and is a free public event. With interactive workshops, demos and masterclasses led by everyone ranging from journalists, runners and apprentices to writers, directors and editors, Fierce Women in Media is providing young people with exclusive access to women in a range of roles within the media world.

Masterclasses include sessions on behind the scenes production, script writing, personal experiences of being a woman working in the media and how the world of news has developed in the digital age. These sessions are complimented by workshops around creating podcasts, being distinctive on social media, VR and women in the world of tech and preparing for a career in the media.
