Format giants Big Brother, Survivor, Wheel of Fortune, Gladiators and Deal or No Deal are returning this year after several years off our UK screens.

These waking giants follow a long line of entertainment formats to be ‘rebooted’ for more contemporary audiences including the likes of Changing Rooms, Family Fortunes, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Catchphrase and Blankety Blank.

This session hears from senior producers and showrunners who are masters of reinvention. They will discuss what makes a great entertainment reboot and what should be avoided, how you balance bringing in new audiences without alienating those who watch for nostalgia and what place in today’s commissioning ecosystem does the reboot have?

What are the secrets … and pitfalls … of bringing a show back rather than developing a brand new format?

Hosted by journalist and presenter, Ria Hebden.
