RTS National Event

This RTS session will consider the innovations and potential challenges AI will have on journalism. On the one hand, it can assist journalists and stimulate the industry, on the other it can threaten social cohesion by making deep fakes and online bots more prevalent.

This appears to be a vital moment in the next stage of tech’s relationship with the news business and there are wide-ranging calls to ensure that responsible AI models are adopted and created from the outset, not least as we gear up for worldwide elections.

In this session we will hear from organisations that are already using AI technology to work more efficiently and deliver more of what their audiences want, as well as getting an understanding of what regulators are doing around the world to ensure that this technology contributes positively to the industry.

The session will be hosted by Symeon Brown, Channel 4 News correspondent and host of AI Watch.

Panel:

  • Ali-Abbas Ali - Director of Broadcasting Competition, Ofcom
  • Tami Hoffman - Director of News Distribution and Commercial Innovation, ITN
  • Gary Rogers - Senior Newsroom Strategy Consultant, Fathm

This is a free RTS virtual event taking place on Zoom.
