Our Commitment to Sustainability

The RTS is offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions from our Convention. Through Carbon Footprint Ltd, we are supporting a programme that combines planting trees across the UK with an internationally verified reduced deforestation initiative in the Brazilian Amazon. By supporting these projects, we will be avoiding and removing carbon, planting and protecting forests and enhancing biodiversity in two continents.

Sustainability at West Road Concert Hall

Accessibility

West Road Concert Hall

There will be live captioning and BSL interpretation in the auditorium for in person attendees, and as an option on the live stream for digital attendees.

The University of Cambridge West Road Concert Hall is a fully accessible venue. The main entrance to the venue is step free with a push button for automatic opening.  The building has level access across the ground floor and the stage. Wheelchair spaces are available in the Auditorium. An accessible toilet is available approximately 18 metres from the main seating area.

There is a quiet room available for those who require it – please ask at the Convention registration desk and the team will be pleased to direct you.

King’s College

There is level access to the main entrance during the day. Gates are closed at night, and entry is through card accessed door with high threshold; there is a bell for assistance. Level back entrance through card accessed gate (which has a generous swinging arm). Surfaces are mostly paved or gravel, with some cobbles.

The main bar is accessible via a fit for purpose lift. It is spacious and well lit, but with no low bar counter. There is an adjoining disabled toilet. The Great Hall can be entered via the main bar entrance, with level access. The Great Hall has large well-spaced tables and moveable chairs. 

RTS Code of Conduct

All RTS event attendees and members are expected to act in a considerate manner at all times and follow these guidelines to ensure a positive experience and respectful environment at all RTS events.

The Royal Television Society will not tolerate any disrespectful behaviour that could bring the Society into disrepute, including, but not limited to:

  • The use of abusive language related to religious beliefs, race, ethnicity, physical appearance, disability, sexual orientation, age, gender, gender identity and expression
  • The use of offensive or sexualised materials, images or content on social media or within the venue of the event
  • Stalking or aggressive and harmful behaviour towards event attendees, speakers and RTS staff
  • Photography of an inappropriate nature
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or physical contact that is inappropriate
  • Misuse of alcohol or recreational drugs
