RTS Yorkshire Awards 2011

On the 13th of June, Yorkshire’s television community gathered The Queens Hotel in Leeds to honour another year of excellence in television.

Mike Best, chairman of the RTS-Yorkshire branch said; “There is a wealth of experience and talent in the region and the work of this year’s winners highlights that. This year’s awards were a wonderful celebration of that talent. The competition in each and every category was extremely close, which just goes to show what a wealth of creativity we have on offer in Yorkshire.”

A Symphony for Yorkshire was the big winner of the evening. The BBC Yorkshire programme scooped four awards. Former BBC TV war reporter, Martin Bell was on hand to present the Journalist of the Year Award; the same award he himself won in 1977. The writer Kay Mellor was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award.
