Awards Ceremony
The nominations for the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2025, in partnership with Dataminr, have been announced.
Taking place on Wednesday 5th March in a ceremony hosted by Tom Bradby at the London Hilton on Park Lane, the awards recognise excellency in television journalism in the UK and internationally over the past year.
For the second year running, ITV leads the way with 20 nominations across the 20 categories, shortlisted for two out of the three nods for Current Affairs – Home, Emerging Young Talent of the Year, Nations and Regions News, Nations and Regions Reporter of the Year, and News Coverage – Home. The BBC follows closely, receiving 15 nominations while dominating all three nods for the Nations and Regions Factual category, and two of three for Digital Journalism.
New for 2025, the RTS introduced the Digital Journalism category in which the Associated Press / Frontline PBS, BBC News and BBC World Service all received nominations. The inaugural category celebrates outstanding work where the primary publication point is the organisations’ website, social media applications or other digital platforms.
The Breaking News category reflects some of the year-defining events of 2024, with the BBC, Sky News and Reuters Television being recognised for their transparent and delicate coverage of them.
Adrian Wells, Chair of the RTS Television Journalism Awards, said: “In a globally tumultuous year, our nominees exemplify the vital work that journalists carry out in the news media industry, especially within a time where accuracy, transparency and compassion in reporting is so important. We look forward to recognising the high calibre of expertise and celebrating the achievements of the journalists at our awards ceremony next month.”
