Awards Ceremony

Tuesday, 22 March, 2022

On Tuesday March 22nd, in Studio 4 RTÉ TV Studios – the first ‘in-person‘ event for two years, the winners were announced for the RTS ROI Student Television Awards 2022.

Trophies were awarded for Animation to Fall of the Ibis King by Mikai Geronimo, Josh O‘Caoimh and team, National School IADT, a richly textured melodrama, operatic in its themes of jealousy and murder; for Comedy & Entertainment to Flash_Thunder93 by Reuben Harvey National Film School IADT, a dead-pan story of electrical storm worshippers, with pitch-perfect dialogue; for Factual to Bullet Casings in the Graveyard by Kate Breen, Adam Daly and team, Dundalk Institute of Technology, a strong story in documentary format, well researched and told; and for Drama to This Town Still Talks About You by Matthew McGuigan and team, National Film School IADT, a beautifully atmospheric piece, shot in black and white, in a bleak ‘Nordic‘ style, about the complexities of Irish family relationships.

The jury said that, despite the limitations and restrictions of the lockdown, this year’s contenders had risen to the challenge with glorious results, with  standards as high or higher than ever in the history of the competition.
