The RTS Television Graphic Design Craft Award
David Kingdom Anglia Television
In Graphic Design, the bad news was there was only one entry - the good news was the entry the judges received was of a winning quality. David Kingdom of Anglia TV submitted an astonishingly diverse range of title sequences, any of which was worth a network showing. So he wins the Graphic Design Award.
Winner : David Kingdom Anglia Television

There was a healthy number of videos submitted this year - and it has to be said the standard was mixed. But the winning entry was of a quality that rivalled many a broadcast programme.
So for the all round excellence of its production, from the writing to the performances of the actors, the Non-Broadcast Video of the Year Award goes to Making a Pass.
Winner : Making a Pass by Sue Tramontini / Dene Bristol, Anglia Television

For The Tony Scase Award for The News Reporter of the Year, two people impressed the judges. Andrew Tomlinson of BBC Look East showed a good journalistic mind at work - and if, in future, his brief goes beyond health matters, he will surely win the award. But this year the choice of the judges went to a reporter whose fine writing, versatile range and keen journalism makes him a worthy successor to Tony Scase. He is Timothy Evans of Anglia News East.
Winner : Timothy Evans Anglia News East

The RTS Television Regional Programme of the Year Award
There's only one Barry Fry Ron Trickett, Anglia Television
Matter of Fact : Dark Miracle Clive Dunn
Seventh House Films for BBC East
Out to Lunch with Brian Turner Paul Freeman, Anglia Television
The East at Westminster Boni Sones, BBC East
Matter of Fact : Breeding Trouble Martin Friend, BBC East
Norwich Cathedral -
History in the Making Ron Trickett, Anglia Television
Matter of Fact : The Diary Dick Meadows, BBC East
Out and About Tapecraft Productions for BBC East
As occasionally happens in a particular year, one organisation can dominate the awards. But when the judges viewed the entries for The Regional Programme of the Award, it was two BBC programmes that stood out, both from the series Matter of Fact. The first made by independent Seventh House Films for BBC East was called Dark Miracle. It was a well-made investigation into an aeroplane crash at the USAF Lakenheath Airbase 40 years ago, which almost ended in a nuclear disaster. Very different in style and approach was the beautifully produced account of a daughter's struggle to get the diary her father wrote in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. Both were first class pieces of work, but by the narrowest of margins the judges gave the award to Matter of Fact : The Diary.
Winner : Matter of Fact : The Diary Dick Meadows, BBC East
