This week offers more unmissable TV: the hugely anticipated fantasy epic House of the Dragon finally arrives on Sky Atlantic and Hollywood heroes Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney do a real Ted Lasso and buy a failing Welsh football club in Welcome to Wrexham.
House of the Dragon
Monday
Sky Atlantic, 2.00am & 9.00pm
Three years after its divisive finale, Game of Thrones is back for another royal rumble in a spin-off that spells the beginning of the end of House Targaryen.
A civil war is afoot as Paddy Considine’s King Viserys I Targaryen faces the pressing matter of choosing his successor. His younger brother Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) is all set to ascend, only for his firstborn Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) and his new flame Lady Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) to stake their claims despite there never having been a Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
Made in Chelsea: Mallorca
Monday
E4, 9pm
This new series of Made in Chelsea sees the SW3 gang of socialites head to the sunny isle of Mallorca. With two exclusive, glamorous villas, all looks set for a holiday of Balearic bliss, until the arrival of a model called India causes Julius's past to come flooding back.
The series will see four new faces join the gang: London’s India and Issy, and Mallorca locals Willow and Malek.
Mo
Wednesday
Netflix
Ramy Youssef’s sidekick in Ramy, Mo Amer, creates his own self-titled, culture clash comedy.
This time around, Mo’s a Palestinian Muslim pending asylum in Texas, straddling the line between the two cultures as he hustles to support his family back home in Kuwait. He makes a charismatic and thus successful salesman but he keeps losing jobs due to his immigrant status.
Welcome to Wrexham
Thursday
Disney+
It might have something to do with Ted Lasso, but Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny’s takeover of Wrexham football club still doesn’t quite seem real. But maybe Welcome to Wrexham, Disney’s new documentary series taking us behind the scenes of the business, will put those doubts to rest.
Like Ted Lasso the Hollywood stars are fish out of water, albeit as owners instead of managers. They’re dreaming of turning the fifth tier Wrexham into an underdog the world will root for, but also, more importantly, bringing hope to a community that could use it.
All That Glitters: Britain’s Next Jewellery Star
Thursday
BBC Two, 9pm
Comedian Katherine Ryan returns to host All That Glitters, as eight jewellers battle it out in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter to become the next big name in jewellery.
Judging the jewellers’ work are Dinny Hall and Shaun Leane, two of the biggest names in the business. It’s up to them to decide who will win jeweller of the week, and who will be sent packing.
