This time tomorrow, you’ll likely be contending with a crushing hangover and the even more crushing expectations of New Year’s resolutions. For now, though, you are free. If you’re wanting to keep celebrations more lowkey this year, here’s the best of what’s on TV.
Last Leg of the Year
Channel 4, 9.00pm
Join Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker as they look back on 2024. They’ll be joined by Strictly winner Chris McCausland, Big Brother presenter AJ Odudu and QI’s Sandi Toksvig to unpick a chaotic 12 months. This year, there have been elections, scandals and a whole lot of other things for the gang to sink their teeth into.
The Graham Norton Show
BBC One, 10.25pm
Graham Norton has spent years quietly carving out a niche as one of the best chat show hosts around. His secret – being actually funny and creating a nice atmosphere on the sofa – is hardly a revelation, but still manages to keep him a cut above. Joining him tonight are Robbie Williams, Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Strictly’s Motsi Mabuse and John Bishop.
Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny
BBC Two, 11.30pm
If Benjamin Franklin were alive today, he would know there are three certainties in life: death, taxes and Hootenanny. 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of Jools Holland’s New Year’s get-together, and promises to be just as much fun as ever.
This year’s guest list includes The Boomtown Rats, Jungle, JADE, CMAT, Kathy Sledge, Roger Taylor, Paul Carrack, Toby Lee, Marc Almond Ruby Turner and The Dead South.
