On Tuesday evening February 28th, a lively and enthusiastic audience cheered on the winners of the RTS ROI Student Awards for 2023.
Meeting and surpassing the high standards set in previous years,
trophies were awarded for The Small Makings of a Storm (Animation), They Killed Us for Existing
(Factual), Madame Machine Monday (Entertainment & Comedy Drama) and Bestial Ones (Drama).
The trophies were presented by some of our leading broadcasters – Adrian Lynch, Director
Audience, Channels; Marketing; Larry Bass, Founder & CEO of ShinAwiL, leading independent
producer; Bill Malone, Independent Producer and former Head of Content, VirginMedia; and Alan
Esslemont, Árd Stiúrthóir TG4; TC4 (responsible for An Cailín Ciúin).
They commended the winners and nominees and advised them of the importance of good writing to the success of any project,
and the wisdom of acquiring experience in all aspects of television and programme-making, whenever
it is offered. The jury applauded the imagination, resourcefulness and creativity of this year’s entries
and wished every success to the nominees and winners.
