As filming gets underway for legal thriller Fearless, ITV has announced that BAFTA winner Sir Michael Gambon will join the programme, alongside lead actress Helen McCrory.
A host of other talent has also been confirmed for the six-part programme, including actor and comedian John Bishop, Emmy nominee Robin Weigert (Jessica Jones), Jonathan Forbes (Catastrophe), Wunmi Mosaku (Dancing On The Edge) and Jamie Bamber (Marcella).
Fearless, produced by Mammoth Screen (Poldark, Victoria) follows tireless solicitor Emma Blunt (McCrory), who has a reputation for taking on hopeless cases.
The plot delves into the intersection of law and politics, as Blunt defends a man she believes has been wrongly accused of the murder of a young girl. Determined to uncover the truth, Emma gets caught up in a police cover-up involving international intelligence agencies.
"The range and depth of the cast that director Pete Travis has assembled is testament to Patrick Harbinson's wonderful scripts," said Damien Timmer, Executive Producer of the show.
“Michael Gambon is a legend, one of the UK's finest actors, and it's a real thrill for us that he will be joining the brilliant Helen McCrory,” he said.
Other confirmed actors include Christine Bottomley (In The Club), Rebecca Callard (Ordinary Lies), Emma Hamilton (Mr Selfridge), Sam Swainsbury (Mum) and Rick Warden (Happy Valley).
