The BBC has confirmed the four famous faces taking part in the return of Celebrity Race Across the World.
Model and actress Kelly Brook will be racing the 12,500km with her husband Jeremy, against radio host Scott Mills (formerly Radio 1 and now Radio 2) and his husband Sam. Also taking part are actor Kola Bokinni (of Ted Lasso fame) and his cousin Mary Ellen, and TV presenter and Jeff Brazier and his son Freddy.
This year’s race will begin in Belém, Northern Brazil, the gateway to the Amazon River. From there they will pass through five checkpoints spread across the length of South America. The finish line lies in Frutillar in the south of Chile, a city in the Andes mountains.
The contestants’ celebrity status affords them no luxuries; they have to follow the same rules as the non-celebrity racers. This means no private transport, smartphones or bank cards.
At least they’ll have their friends, family or spouses to help them on their journey, which will also give viewers a more personal insight into the people we thought we knew.
Tim Harcourt, Chief Creative Officer at Studio Lambert, the producers of the series, said: “After the phenomenally successful run of the first celebrity series, and more recently the fourth series of the regular series - we can’t wait to bring audiences along with us to the huge South American continent and its jaw-dropping scenery, in a race which will push our celebrities and their loved ones to their absolute limits.”
Celebrity Race Across the World will return to BBC One and iPlayer for another six-part series on Wednesday 14 August 2024. Episodes will air weekly.
