A+E Networks commissions second series of Critical Evidence with Robbie Coltrane
The RTS award-winning actor will front the new Crime + Investigation series Robbie Coltrane’s Critical Evidence.
The eight-part series will look at some of the toughest murder cases that investigators face, with no suspect, no leads, and sometimes no body.
Each episode will analyse a different complex case investigated by the British police and how they resolved the difficult investigation.
“The hardest cases to solve are those without an obvious lead, requiring a painstaking process of gathering and evaluating evidence,” said Susan McGregor, Series Producer for IWC Media.
“These stories reveal the astonishing dedication of investigators determined to follow the trail until they catch the killer. We're delighted to be making a second series for CI that will make gripping viewing for its loyal crime audience.”
The RTS award-winning series explores difficult and extraordinary cases, such as the case of Karen Price, who was only identified due to ground-breaking facial reconstruction techniques.
Other cases include the disappearance of Suzanne Pilley who disappeared at the age of 38 without a trace, and the posthumous conviction of Joseph Kappen who murdered three teenage girls in a small village in south west Wales 27 years ago.
“We’re thrilled to be working with IWC Media’s talented team again on this award-winning CI series,” commented Koulla Anastasi, Channel Director for Crime + Investigation at A+E Networks UK.
He added, “The strong audience figures for season one proved that our viewers continue to be fascinated by the world of forensic science, particularly in the compelling company of Robbie Coltrane.”
The series will air on Crime + Investigation in the UK early 2018.
