Award-winning actor Rob Lowe (The West Wing) is announced to star and be an executive producer on ITV’s new six-part crime drama.
Wild Bill centres around US cop Bill Hixon (Rob Lowe) who transfers to Boston, Lincolnshire, with his 14-year-old daughter Kelsey, in the hopes of escaping a recent tragedy.
Impressively qualified, Hixon is promoted to Chief Constable of the East Lincolnshire Police Force but is taken aback by the unimpressed Boston community who share similar attitudes to his own.
Hixon adapts to his new environment as he reconsiders his relationships with those he holds dear.
“As an actor, Wild Bill is a larger than life character who’s outrageously articulate, has nothing to lose and revels in being an American fish out of water,” said Rob Lowe. “As an Executive Producer, I’m excited to work with such talented partners and to come back to work in the UK, which I always love.”
Confirming the commission, Head of ITV Drama, Polly Hill commented, “I’m delighted to have Wild Bill on ITV, as it’s a really fresh take on police procedure and introduces a brilliant new cop to be played by the wonderful Rob Lowe.”
Wild Bill is set to start filming in November around Lincolnshire and London, with further casting to be announced.
