New History series River Hunters will see American YouTuber Beau Ouimette and presenter Rick Edwards teaming up to unearth historical treasures.

River Hunters follows Ouimette, an experienced river detectorist, and Edwards as they search for artefacts in rivers and waterways across the UK.

The pair visit a range of historically significant sites that cover events such as the Wars of the Roses, the Reformation and the English Civil War.

Working with local archaeologists and historians, the duo reveal the stories and people behind the historical treasures, redefining social history.

Using state-of-the-art technology and archive maps, Ouimette and Edwards perform the first underwater archaeological digs in some of the most iconic historical sites.

“I’m delighted that we’re able to put to bed the idea that it’s just shopping trolleys and old bikes in the UK’s rivers,” commented Rick Edwards.

“We found some truly extraordinary artefacts, bringing whole new perspectives to the stories from our rich past. I also get very cold.”

Produced by A+E Networks UK and Hello Halo Productions, River Hunters will air on History channel next year.
