The Wave will connect to televisions through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Tech company Touchjet has invented a device called the Wave, which transforms televisions into touchscreen tablets.

The Wave uses a set-top camera with an embedded infrared sensor to track finger movements, before transforming your television into an Android 4.4 KitKat tablet.

Helen Thomas, CEO of Touchjet, told Techradar, “This is the experience of the future. It's all interactive, and kids understand touch.”

Families and friends can use the Wave to play interactive games such as Angry Birds and to complete work on Microsoft Office or Google Docs.

Users, who don’t want to leave fingerprints on their television screen, can still use it by syncing it to their phone or tablet via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

While products such as Roku and Apple TV already allow consumers to sync their electronic devices to their television, they do not have the touchscreen option.

The Wave is an Android-built model that syncs with Google Play Store’s 1.3million apps, and works with any television sized between  20 and 80 inches.

While the Wave is exploring unknown territory for homeowners, the President of Touchjet Tom Li, is raising money to fund its production on crowd funding website, Indiegogo.

The device, which costs £63, will be available from March 2016 and is ready to pre-order.

The 60-day Indiegogo crowd funding campaign runs from 11th August-12th September.
