The Judges said:
This is a strong category with three excellent submissions each displaying the strength of Regional News broadcasting.  It was a very close decision, with one programme standing out with its diversity of content, and also a strong reflection in the diversity of its region and audience — a strong team of Presenters and Journalists, technically good, and wide range of content making for an excellent overall programme.  An essential watch with Presenters at the top of their game, and a programme which had it all from sick babies and Syrian refugees to sharks, fracking, football and dormice.  ITV News Tyne Tees delivers night after night, week after week, bringing viewers the stories and issues that matter.

The programme is warm and engaging, with sharp journalism and high production values... you feel they care about the Region, and it shows.

Excellent Presenters – both live on location and in studio.  A range of stories told with great knowledge and warmth; from raising awareness to the challenges faced by Syrian refugees to the sweet story of the dormouse in rural areas.  General production standards were very high with lovely use of graphic content throughout.
