Channel 5 has announced a new four-part detective thriller starring Jason Watkins, entitled Catch You Later.

Watkins will play police detective Huw Miller, who’s long been haunted by a cold case of his: a stalking serial killer who wreaked havoc in his town.

Huw has recently retired and is trying to adapt to life in the slow lane. But when a Patrick Harbottle (Robson Green) moves in next door, he utters an innocuous phrase that sends shivers down Huw’s spine.

“Catch you later” was the stalker’s sign off – could this be the killer?

A thrilling game of chess ensues as Huw attempts to checkmate his new neighbour, but he’ll have to risk everything to save the next victim.

Tom Grieves has written the series, who’s best known for penning BBC Three’s 2008 cult vampire drama Being Human. Mike Benson, Managing Director of Clapperboard, who is producing the series, says: “When we first read Tom’s original treatment for Catch You Later, we were utterly compelled.

"The characters, tone and world were so well drawn even at that early stage – and the project and scripts have developed into something really special.”

Watkins said that he’s “really excited to do another Channel 5 thriller, after the success of Coma. This is a different prospect but has all the ingredients for another thrilling ride.

“I’m so excited to work with Robson - and Sunetra [Sarker, the Ackley Bridge star who will also appears in the series]. Another complex and fascinating script: so looking forward to beginning filming!”

The series is set to start filming next month, with Toby Frow (Silent Witness) directing. It’s expected to air on Channel 5 in 2025.
