The RTS North East and The Borders Awards 2024 are less than a month away! Only limited tickets remain and can be booked from our events page HERE. We're delighted to confirm Fulwell 73 as Principal Sponsors for this year's awards.
Fulwell 73 are a global entertainment company operating across a wide range of film, TV and music genres and platforms here in the UK and internationally. Fulwell 73 have opened its first UK regional office, Fulwell North, in Sunderland in addition to their London and Los Angeles offices.
In a joint venture with Cain International (FulwellCain Studios), Fulwell 73 has recently announced plans for Crown Works Studios to be built in Sunderland. This will be one of Europe’s largest facilities and would create 8,450 jobs in the region. The development plans have been described by city leaders as ‘the single most significant development announcement to come out of the North East in decades’ and will build on Fulwell 73’s existing presence in the city.
The state-of-the-art facilities will deliver a hub for skills and innovation to support the objectives of the UK’s film and TV industries. This is an unprecedented opportunity to reshape the geography of the screen industries in the UK. Fulwell 73 will draw on its history of successful collaboration with major film production companies, streaming services and broadcasters to attract high profile productions to the new complex. The company’s founding partners have strong connections with Sunderland and a passionate commitment to the North East.
Announcing the studio plans, Fulwell 73’s partners released a joint statement: “We are unified in our belief that there is a unique opportunity to bring further high-end production to the UK through this ambitious Sunderland based studio project; putting the region on the map as a global production destination.” And managing partner, Leo Pearlman, continued: “Fulwell is a company built on family and the North East is embedded in our DNA. For over 100 years my family had a business here in Sunderland and called this great City home, so to be able to bring Fulwell back to where the inspiration for our global entertainment company began is a truly humbling experience. Through delivering the studios, we will create a long-term production industry infrastructure, attract even more significant high end production to the UK and ensure that future generations of North Eastern talent can develop and prosper at home within the region.”
The awards will take place at Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on Saturday February 24th from 6pm.
