The star-studded event will recognise production teams who delivered news, drama, current affairs and factual programmes.

The ceremony, which attracts celebrities, tv executives and guests, will again be hosted by the comedian, writer and producer Jason Cook.

Graeme Thompson MBE, who chairs the event's organising committee said: "The annual Royal Television Society Awards recognise talent and achievement from across the North East and Borders. The event has become the highlight of the creative industries calendar celebrating all aspects of the screen sector from drama and documentary through to commercials and online production. And we are delighted to welcome back the brilliant Jason Cook as our host for the evening.

"These past twelve months have seen an upsurge in production across our region and we look forward to receiving entries from newcomers as well our more established production teams and crew."

Awards for drama, documentary, news, sport and childrens programming are among the categories for production. Individual awards include drama performance of the year, best presenter and on screen journalism. And there are professional excellence awards for post production and crew.

The annual North East & The Borders Centre Award is an established highlight in the region's television year. The RTS considers it essential to encourage and foster the next generation of television practitioners and to support and celebrate the television industry in the North East, Cumbria and South of Scotland and we're delighted to confirm that Student Awards will also feature in the ceremony.
