23 November is a magical date for any self-respecting Doctor Who fan.
It was on that day in 1963 - the day after President Kennedy was assassinated - that the first episode was broadcast, a little after 5:15.
With the 60th anniversary heralding a return of not only David Tennant and Catherine Tate, but also Lead Writer and Russell T Davies, the BBC transmission would take place a couple of days later, so RTS Cymru Wales was delighted to screen The Star Beast in Cardiff on that fabled date.
Now made by Bad Wolf, the show is also being overseen by Julie Gardner, Jane Tranter and Phil Collinson - three figures who, along with Russell, managed the 2005 reboot of the series and also instigated Wales becoming a hub for television drama production for the next two decades.
Following the screening, Jane and Russell were interviewed by Doctor Who: Unleashed host, Steffan Powell, and were joined by two trainees who have begun their career on this very series.
You can now watch that panel discussion to discover some of the magic behind the making of the world's longest-running science fiction show's diamond anniversary.
