Channel 4 has unveiled first look images of its new psychological drama, The Couple Next Door.
In a suggestive synopsis, Channel 4 states that the story will "explore the claustrophobia of suburbia and the fallout of chasing your deepest desires."
The series stars Eleanor Tomlinson (The Outlaws) and Alfred Enoch (Tigers) as Evie and Pete, a couple who move to an affluent neighbourhood only to discover a world of curtain twitching and status anxiety.
They manage to find friendship in the couple next door: alpha traffic policeman Danny (Sam Heughan, Outlander) and his glamorous wife and yoga instructor Becka (Jessica De Gouw, Pennyworth). But gradually the couples grow closer and closer, until one night they become sexually entwined and their lives are changed forever.
David Allison (Bedlam) wrote the series, which Channel 4 describes as "an addictive and emotional roller coaster."
Dries Vos (Suspect) directed the drama in Leeds and Belgium earlier in 2023.
The Couple Next Door will air on Channel 4 in autumn 2023.
