Channel 4 has commissioned Make That Movie, a six-part scripted comedy from Sam Campbell (Taskmaster).

The show follows a team of filmmakers who are determined to turn everyday people’s ideas for a feature film into reality. Sam Campbell plays the director, with the show itself directed by Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared veteran Joe Pelling.

The cast includes some of the best and brightest in comedy. Helen Bauer (Am I Being Unreasonable?) stars as sound engineer Pat and David Hargreaves (This Country) as cinematographer Winnie. Lars Ricote (QI) also appears as runner Jess, with Aaron Chen (Orange Is the New Brown) playing intimacy coordinator Sebastian.

“Sam epitomises the colour, creativity and innovation that Channel 4 comedy stands for,” said Charlie Perkins, head of comedy. “He has an undeniable, completely unique and enormous comedy brain and is generous and tenacious in his artistry – the perfect figurehead for this new-era comedy gang-show. This is going to be fun.”

“It’s a bit like one of those shows where they fix up someone’s garden,” Campbell said. “But this is about something people genuinely care about.”

Further details about casting and transmission will be announced in due course.
