Bristol Film and TV Industries is a seven-month research project investigating the film and television industries in Bristol. Despite its size and significance to the city, little concrete data exists about Bristol’s film and television sector, the companies that comprise it and the freelancers with which they work. This project aims to put that right.
The project is led by UWE Bristol in partnership with Bristol Royal Television Society, Bristol Media, Creative England, Creative Skillset, Bristol Film Office and Watershed. It consists of two surveys – one for companies and one for freelancers – and a series of interviews, from which we aim to build the most detailed picture yet of Bristol’s film and TV industries: who is involved and how? What is its cultural and economic value to the city? What are the relationships and networks that underpin it? What challenges does it face?
Our findings will be announced at our summer celebration and networking event at Watershed on 27 June at 6pm, and will be collated into a report to be published later this year. Everyone who fills in the survey will receive free entry to this event as well as the chance to win a ‘Spa & Dine for Two’ voucher at Lido Bristol.
