Sky releases trailer for new drama Mare of Easttown starring Kate Winslet

Academy Award winner Kate Winslet stars as small-town detective Mare Sheehan, who is handed a local murder to solve while trying to hold her life together.

Meanwhile Mare’s mother and daughter, played by Jean Smart and Angourie Rice, only serve to complicate her matters.

The new cast members will guest feature as suspects in the first film of the Bath-based detective drama series, currently filming, alongside leads Jason Watkins and Tala Gouveia.

Gouveia and Watkins will reprise their roles as the unlikely pairing of the gutsy DCI McDonald and the humble DS Dodds.

James Murray also returns as Chief Superintendent Houseman, handing McDonald and Dodds three new murder mysteries to solve. Lily Sacofsky joins as DC Milena Pachiorkowski.

He was talking after an exclusive RTS West of England screening of the show in Bath at the end of February.

The series pairs Jason Watkins as the diffident Bath-born-and-bred DS Dodds and his ambitious boss, DCI McDonald, who has transferred from south London to further her career. She is played by Tala Gouveia.

“It was always going to be Bath. Cop shows are often set in stations. It was important for Dodds, as a different kind of cop, to be out in the field,” said Murphy, who wrote both feature-length episodes, which aired on ITV in March.
