RTS London Awards 2006
ITN captured the honours at the 2006 RTS London Regional Awards winning both the News Programme of the Year for their coverage of the London Bombings anniversary and the News Story of the Year for the Plane Terror Attack at Heathrow feature.
Individual awards went to BBC London’s Asad Ahmad who was a first time recipient of the Reporter of The Year Award and 'Suggs' lead vocalist from Madness, who won Presenter of the Year for Disappearing London a Wavelength Films production for ITV London and Sky Three.
The host for the evening was Director of Exhibitions at the White Cube gallery, writer, broadcaster and art historian Tim Marlow who has presented numerous arts programmes for Five. Tim was joined by fellow celebrity award presenters; Suggs the lead vocalist from Madness, ITV news presenter Alastair Stewart, Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis, comedian Tim Vine and Loose Women presenter and singer Jane MacDonald.
Metro Broadcast and BBC London were the main sponsors of this year’s awards. Award sponsors included MTV Studios, Broadcast PR consultancy Page Relations Ltd and Watercress Associates.
