Kuljinder Singh Khaila

RTS Midlands Chair

Kully Khaila been Chair of RTS Midlands since December 2020.

Starting as a runner at the hallowed ground of BBC Pebble Mill Studios in Birmingham, Kully went on to work across daytime, shiny-floor shows, music, comedy, factual entertainment, documentaries and feature films at the BBC.  He’s developed and created content in television, radio, online and live events, and worked in the Midlands, London, Salford and Belfast.  Kully set up his own independent production company making content for BBC Radio, and worked with a number of commercial companies on developing content and talent before returning to the BBC.  He worked with Arts Council England/BBC, helping arts organisations embrace opportunities around digital disruption with The Space project.

More recently Kully was Executive Producer of BBC One’s Sunday Morning Live, before moving to the BBC Academy, where he now oversees young engagement projects for the BBC. His team share digital skills and media literacy with young people in schools, colleges and youth groups across Britain via BBC Young Reporter, BBC STEM and other projects.  Kully is working closely with Create Central and other regional groups to help reinvigorate the Midlands screen sector.
