Ryan Reynolds and McElhenney’s 2021 decision to buy Wrexham A.F.C. seems to be paying off. Last month, the team became the first in English league history to achieve three consecutive promotions. At the end of the documentary show’s last series – which covered the 2023-24 season – the men’s squad had earned a place in League One. Now facing a tougher standard of football than ever before, the pressure is on.
Series four also features, of all people, Channing Tatum and Tom Brady.
Murderbot
Friday
Apple TV+
Following his dead-eyed turn in Succession, Alexander Skarsgård leads this sci-fi series as another cold-hearted killer.
The self-named Murderbot was designed for, well, you can probably guess. The problem? He's developed free will, and doesn't have much of an appetite for providing lethal corporate security. Watching soap operas is more his speed.
Humans and their messy insistence on emotion both horrifies and intrigues Murderbot. What follows is an existential crisis, in-between a lot of intergalactic telenovas.
