RTS EAST ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE 2025 PROGRAMME AWARDS

  • Double award win for The Jury: Murder Trial for Features and Entertainment and Factual - Specialist 

  • Double craft excellence for Ninja Theory with Senua's Saga: Hellblade II for Craft – Sound and Craft – VFX, SFX & Games.  

  • Triple win for ITV News Anglia, for Rob Setchell (News Journalist of the Year), Lucy Benneworth (News Emerging Talent) and Speechless (News Story of the Year). 

 

Cambridge, England The East of England's huge range of talent across the TV and film industry was celebrated at an awards ceremony in Cambridge last night (Monday 30 June), as the Royal Television Society (RTS) East announced the winners of its prestigious 2025 Programme Awards. 

Presented by BBC Look East presenter and reporter Mousumi Bakshi, along with RTS East’s Committee Member and Head Judge Tom Porter, last evening’s ceremony welcomed over 100 industry professionals from the region and awarded 15 trophies. 

 

The Jury: Murder Trial led the way with two genre wins during the evening for Factual – Specialist and Features and Entertainment - the newest category addition for 2025. Ninja Theory also secured two craft wins for their video game Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, for Sound and VFX, SFX and Games. 

Judges in the news categories also highly praised the standard of entries this year, with ITV winning three out of the four awards on offer – scooping wins in News Journalist of the Year with Rob Setchell, News Story of the Year with Speechless, and News Emerging Talent with Lucy Benneworth. 

BBC also secured two wins during the evening, with Jamie Niblock receiving the award for News Craft Talent, and Matt Wildash and Ed Barlow winning Promotional Film. 

Norwich-based production company Trett Films won the coveted Scripted – Single or Series award for their short film Dial whilst Operation Hope took the Factual – Documentary trophy. 

Cut The Mustard Animation returned this year, and this time received the Short Form Digital award for their animated shorts Beach Hut Six 2024 Reels Collection. 

For the Craft awards, first-time nominees Howard Berry took home the Editor award for Her Name Was Moviola, James Swift won in Sound for season 8 of Grantchester, and the Director award went to both Tom Green and Tommy Forbes for Me and the Voice in My Head.
