RTS Technology held its first event outside England in May, partnering with Cymru Wales to throw a spotlight on the future of remote sports production, at the Cymru Broadcast Centre in Cardiff’s Tramshed Tech.

This is home to Whisper Cymru, which produces Formula 1 for Channel 4 and the BBC’s Women’s Super League. The fully accessible production facility was opened ahead of the 2024 Paris Paralympics for the Whisper/Channel 4 production.

The event included a technical tour of the facilities, followed by a Q&A with Stuart Frayne, Head of Technical Operations at Cymru Broadcast Centre, and Whisper MD Carys Owens.

Edward Russell RTS Cymru Wales Chair was delighted with the partnership. He said: “When RTS Technology Vice Chair Mark Couto approached us, he was keen to put the focus on our region and we were pleased to offer an event that presented Wales at the cutting edge of network and broadcast technology.”

Couto added: “Hopefully, this will be the start of many more partnerships between centres in offering technology events that draw in crowds from across the UK.”
