School is back in session in the new trailer for series two of Wednesday, for which Netflix has confirmed the release dates.

Jenna Ortega (Scream VI) reprises her role as the world’s more sardonic teenager. She’ll be going back to Nevermore Academy to reunite with roommate Enid (Emma Myers, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder), and once again confront the forces of darkness. Classic high school stuff.

This time round, she’s joined by younger brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez, A Wrinkle in Time). Her mum and dad – Morticia and Gomez to you (Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán) – are also in tow.

The second series, for which Tim Burton will return as director, sees Joanna Lumley (Amandaland) join the cast as Wednesday’s grandma Hester Frump. Steve Buscemi (Broadwalk Empire) will also make an appearance as new headmaster Barry Dort.

“There’s always something thrilling about working for Tim Burton,” said Lumley. “His whole mind takes him to a different world, and the world that they’ve created here for Wednesday and Nevermore and the family is just intoxicating. It’s wonderful. I get to wear many, many huge wigs, one on top of the other — and lots of quite constraining clothes, so I love it.”

Series two of Wednesday will stream on Netflix in two parts, with part one available from 6 August and part two from 3 September.
