After the first series won BBC One’s highest rating for an unscripted show in its daytime slot in the past year, Helen Skelton and her team are diving back into the Lake District for more Lost and Found in the Lakes.

Tŷ'r Ddraig will produce another 16-part series that reunites people with treasured possessions they have lost in the lakes. Explaining his decision to recommission, Alex McLeod, BBC Daytime Commissioning Editor, said: “The first series […] was a big hit with viewers, thanks to its irresistible mix of drama, emotion, and beautiful scenery.”

The series sees Skelton work with a team of experts, from divers to detectorists, as they scour the area’s many lakebeds and forests for lost items before taking them back to their thankful, and tearful, owners.

If, however, the owner is unknown, they also have a crack social media detective, Mui Abdul, on hand to launch dedicated online campaigns. And if the unclaimed items need restoring, they have a whole region of talented craftspeople to draw on.

A memorable episode from series one, which aired in January 2025, saw a scuba team rescue a drone that had sunk 35 meters to the bottom of Lake Windermere. It turned out that this drone contained unseen photographs from the wedding day of Alex and Mary.

Skelton said: “I am thrilled to be returning to my home in the Lake District for a second series of Lost and Found in the Lakes. I had a fantastic experience returning lost treasures to their owners and I cannot wait to get back to it!”

Lost and Found in the Lakes will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2026.
