The BBC has promised a new series of Gladiators that’s ‘hotter than ever’, with brand new physical challenges and more famous faces entering the Sheffield arena.
Bradley and Barney Walsh will return to oversee all the action, where the so-called ‘Saturday Night Superheroes’ will take on the brave contenders across another eleven episodes. There will also be another stand-alone Celebrity Special.
These ‘Superheroes’ include the modestly-named Apollo, Athena, Bionic, Comet, Cyclone, Diamond, Dynamite, Electro, Fire, Fury, Giant, Hammer, Legend, Nitro, Phantom, Sabre, Steel and Viper.
The first Celebrity Special saw Ellie Taylor, Louise Minchin, Rob Beckett and Joel Dommett contend, to varying degrees of success.
Hungry Bear Media and MGM Alternative UK produce the series, which has so far attracted an average of 5.3m viewers. The relaunch of the 90s Saturday night staple has proved particularly popular with families, with 1.3m younger viewers tuning in for each episode.
Dan Baldwin, MD of Hungry Bear, said: “We are extremely excited to deliver another series, so expect even more spandex, hairspray, protein shakes and fake tan this summer in Sheffield!”
Series three of Gladiators will air on BBC One in 2026. You can stream series one and two on BBC iPlayer.
