The I Kissed a… franchise has given us three summers running of LGBTQIA+ dating drama, and now they’re promising a fourth.

BBC Three alternates between I Kissed a Boy and I Kissed a Girl yearly, with the series holding the title of being the first queer dating show in the UK. With the reunion for I Kissed a Boy series two airing this week, the girls are set for 2026.

The premise is simple: 10 contestants enter the Masseria (Italian for farmhouse) and lock lips before even saying hello. Luckily for them, they have been match-made by host of the show and ally-icon, Dannii Minogue. Unluckily for them, Minogue will be regularly introducing new arrivals to the Masseria. These latecomers will need to stir things up and secure a connection if they want to stay on this once-in-a-lifetime holiday.

The couples will have the chance to switch up their pairings in “kiss-offs” where they stand back-to-back and only turn around and kiss their partner if they intend to stay in the relationship. If someone is left kiss-less they will be given a plane ticket back home.

Alongside all the drama you’d expect from reality TV, I Kissed a… also gives a forum to educate and talk through important aspects of an LGBTQIA+ life. The last three series have included conversations surrounding HIV stigma, growing up in countries where homosexuality remains illegal, and the impact of having terms like ‘lesbian’ and ‘gay’ be used as insults.

The latter formed one of the standout viral moments from the last series of I Kissed a Girl, as footballer Georgia Robert encouraged the girls to reconnect with the label "lesbian" by sharing her own personal story.

Casting is currently in progress for I Kissed a Girl series two, with no release date currently set.

All series of I Kissed a… are available to binge on BBC iPlayer.
