Claudia Winkleman is back in the highlands for another season of betrayal, but this time it’ll be her famous contemporaries at the mercy of the game.
Whereas international series such as Traitors Australia or Traitors US have always had a mix of reality TV stars, celebrities and the general public, the UK’s Traitors series has opted to keep celebs and civilians separate.
This Autumn, the first batch of celebrity contestants will be joining Claudia Winkleman (and her ever growing range of knitwear) in the Scottish castle.
For those who’ve been mercifully asleep since 2021, here’s a run through the rules: host Claudia Winkleman secretly selects three ‘Traitors’, unbeknownst to the rest of the group. Each night, the Traitors secretly meet and ‘murder’ one of the ‘Faithful’. Then, at the daily ‘round table’, the Faithful get their chance to banish a suspected Traitor. But how can they be sure they’re voting out a Traitor, and not one of their own?
There will be £100,000+ up for grabs, which will be split among the winning Traitors or Faithfuls - money they will have collected over the coming weeks by completing an array of ridiculous tasks. Usually, this money goes into the contestants’ own pockets, but the celebs are all fighting for charities of their choosing.
Read on to find out which celebs are putting their trust to the test:
Alan Carr
The stand-up comic recently showed a new side of himself with his prequel series Changing Ends, that chronicled his childhood as the flamboyant son of a local football coach.
Can the Chatty Man manage to put his talkative nature aside, and not reveal himself as a Traitor? Only time will tell.
Clare Balding
Fresh from winning an RTS Award for her sports punditry, Balding is ready to take on her first stint on a reality TV show! Having travelled all over the world presenting Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth games, she’s swapping stadiums for the Scottish Highlands in her next big adventure.
Cat Burns
BRIT School graduate Cat recorded her first EP at age 16 and shot to fame in 2022 through her TikTok viral single Go. She has spoken publicly in the past about being a huge Traitors fan, so she’s likely to have a strategy down from the get-go.
Celia Imrie
The actor – who has starred in British classics such as Nanny McPhee, Bridget Jones and Mamma Mia – is ready for her greatest role yet, in the Traitors’ castle.
Charlotte Church
Charlotte Church has an impressive resume: shooting to fame at 11-years-old for her classical singing skills; writing two autobiographies; winning a British Comedy Award for newcomer; and appearing as a mushroom on The Masked Singer.
David Olusoga
Historian David Olusoga made his name through programmes like A House Through Time and Black and British: A Forgotten History, and his activism work surrounding Black Lives Matter.
Unfortunately, his brain power might not work to his advantage here – the smartest contestants are often perceived as the most dangerous.
Joe Marler
According to the description of his podcast Joe Marler's Things People Do, the outspoken former England ruby union player used to hate people. Thankfully, he’s since warmed to the human race a bit, which will come in handy for building alliances.
Alternatively, maybe his misanthropy will come back with a vengeance. Either way, the post-match interview will be incredibly entertaining.
Joe Wilkinson
The comedian was last seen doing his best to keep a straight face in Prime Video reality show Last One Laughing. His only competition there was fellow comedians, but now, he faces people he’s much less familiar with.
Jonathan Ross
A professional chat show host, Ross is one of the best talkers in the business. One rousing speech from him could rally the faithful together or turn them against each other. Or maybe he’ll just get some very witty anecdotes out of them.
Kate Garraway
Garraway is known for her This Morning presenting work, and appearances on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here and Strictly Come Dancing so she knows the reality TV drill. Like Charlotte Church, she has also competed on the Masked Singer, appearing in 2025 as Spaghetti Bolognese.
Lucy Beaumont
Hullraisers writer and stand-up comic Lucy Beaumont is perhaps best known for her mockumentary Meet the Richardsons and her incredible stint on Taskmaster.
Said stint led her and fellow contestant Sam Campbell to create the podcast Lucy and Sam’s Perfect Brains born from the fact their minds work entirely differently from everyone else’s – which bodes very well for The Traitors!
Mark Bonnar
Bonnar has made a name for himself playing morally grey characters, such as a man covering up a hit and run in Guilt, or a corrupt cop in Line of Duty. Hopefully Bonnar can bring himself to act trustworthy for the Traitors, or it might be his head on the chopping block.
Niko Omilana
You might know Niko for his YouTube prankster videos, or for his attempt to become London Mayor back in 2021. Despite having no previous political experience, his pledge to turn McDonalds into social housing won him nearly 50,000 votes – so one thing’s for sure, he knows how to get people on side.
Nick Mohammed
Mohammed has been performing a character act as Mr Swallow for over a decade – a camp and over-confident teacher, who has featured on Countdown, the Royal Variety Performance and even the West End.
Recently Mohammed cracked America with his Ted Lasso character Nathan Shelley, a football coach who had a dramatic rise and fall.
Paloma Faith
Singer Paloma Faith might think only love can hurt like this, but that’s because she hasn’t been subject to a Traitor-style betrayal yet.
Stephen Fry
The comedian and professional clever clogs is best known as the former host of QI, the home of counterintuitive trivia. He’ll feel right at home in the Highlands then, where everything is not as it seems.
Will that be enough for him to succeed? Or, as he might put it, is his erudition sufficient to ensure victory in this feat of televisual splendour?
Ruth Codd
Ruth Codd started her career on TikTok and got noticed by Netflix, going on to star in two of Mike Flanagan’s horror series, The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher. After starting her career as an actor, she promptly deleted her TikTok account — because why settle for likes when you can be a scream queen?
Tom Daley
Daley is a man of many talents – Olympic diving, Olympic knitting (see his handmade team GB jerseys) and actor (see Sharknado 5).
Whilst some people might not see these talents as transferrable skills, it wouldn’t be surprising if Daley chooses to bribe Winkleman with new knitwear behind the scenes.
Tameka Empson
You might recognise Empson from the 2016 series of Strictly Come Dancing. Since 2009, she’s also appeared in EastEnders, where she plays the big-hearted Kim Fox.
Albert Square is no stranger to drama, so Empson will know what she’s doing in the castle. After all, you can take the girl out of Walford…
The Celebrity Traitors will air in Autumn 2025, on BBC One and iPlayer.
