South African dancer Motsi Mabuse will join Strictly Come Dancing’s judging panel this autumn, the BBC has announced.

Mabuse will replace Darcey Bussell, who stepped down from the role earlier this year after seven years on the show.

Motsi Mabuse joins from Let’s Dance, the German version of Strictly, where she has been a judge since 2011, after four years as a professional dancer on the series.

“I am absolutely overjoyed to be joining the Strictly judging panel,” said Mabuse. “I have so much respect and admiration for the other three judges and hope to add my own bit of sparkle to the show. I can’t wait to get started!”

Motsi is the sister of Strictly professional Oti Mabuse, who has worked on the show since 2015, dancing alongside Anthony Ogogo, Danny Mac, Jonnie Peacock and Graeme Swan.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One this autumn.
